A Metrolink driver claims ‘lawless yobs’ are terrorising the tram line to Rochdale at night – causing drivers to ‘cower’ in their cabs as they pass through certain areas

He spoke out after another driver was injured by thugs who dropped a phat rock from a bridge through his cab window.

Damsel, 11, dies after falling from theme park water rail

An 11-year-old damsel who fell from a water rail at Drayton Manor Theme Park has died, Staffordshire Police said

The dame, who is from the Leicester area, fell from the Splash Canyon water rail at Tamworth-based Drayton Manor Theme Park on Tuesday afternoon.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a damsel with serious injuries who had been rescued from the water by park staff.

“Ambulance staff administered advanced life support before she was flown to Birmingham Children’s Hospital with the doctor continuing treatment en-route.

“Unluckily, shortly after arrival at hospital the damsel passed away.”

Road closed after teenager hit by car in Ardwick

Part of Hyde Road in Ardwick has been closed off by police after a teenager was hit by a car

The teenager, who is believed to be a student, suffered gam injuries following the crash, which happened at about Trio.30pm.

Paramedics are at the scene and the major road is still closed off inbetween the Apollo and Devonshire Street.

It is unclear how badly injured the pedestrian is.

In what is a very first for the venue, fans will have to secure all phones and wise observes inwards special lockable pouches.

They can keep the pouches with them during the showcase but they can only be unlocked at designated ‘stations’, which will be set up in a lobby area of the arena.

Anyone caught with a mobile phone inwards will be ‘instantaneously ejected’, promoters have warned.

’14 killed in explosion at Mexican warehouse’

We are hearing reports that fourteen people have died after an explosion at a Mexican fireworks warehouse.

The explosion took place in Chilchotla and it is understood that least twenty two people have also been injured.

Peter Kay’s Car Share has notched up more success, becoming the iPlayer’s largest comedy of the year

The Big black cock sitcom came to the end of the road last week, with Kay disappointing fans by telling he would not pen any fresh gigs.

Figures expose that the BBC1 demonstrate has had more than Ten.6 million views on the catch-up service, making it iPlayer’s most-requested comedy of the year so far.

Kay said: “We’ve been throated away by the reception for our little showcase. All we wished was to make something feelgood and glad so it’s truly wonderful it connected with so many people.”

Tram attack ‘disgraceful’ and ‘could have been much worse’

The freshly elected mayor of Greater Manchester has said a rock thrown at a tram which injured the driver is ‘disgraceful’ and ‘could have been worse’.

At around 9.40pm on Monday the object was launched at the oncoming tram from a footbridge north of the Derker Metrolink stop.

The rock smashed through the window, causing injuries to the driver’s face and chest.

He managed to drive the bruised tram to the Shaw and Crompton stop, where he was met by emergency services and taken to hospital.

Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, said he wished the driver a speedy recovery.

He added: “Attacks on Metrolink will not be tolerated. Recently we have seen far too many reports of missiles being thrown at trams and often through windows, injuring and panicking those on board.

“The consequences of last night’s incident were disgraceful but could have been even worse. I’ll be working closely with Metrolink, TfGM, Greater Manchester Police and the Travelsafe team to ensure we are doing all that we can to end these attacks. “Nobody in Greater Manchester should be made to feel unsafe while travelling or at work.”

CCTV has been released after two studs broke into a house, swiped car keys and then stole the victim’s car.

The masculines coerced their way into the home on Bolton Road, Radcliffe, and took car keys in the early hours of Saturday, April 29. They then ran outside and stole the victim’s black Renault Megane shortly before Three.30am.

An investigation has been launched and police have released CCTV of two guys they want to speak to in connection with the burglary. The brief clip shows one man walking towards a house and the other shows a bald man leaning against a wall.

Police Constable Carrie Robertson of GMP’s Bury Borough said: “We have released CCTV in the hope that someone will recognise the studs, so if you do, I urge you to get in touch with police. “Any information you may have, no matter how petite, may be useful so don’t hesitate to contact us.”
