Land Rover Defender owners who find the vehicle just lacks that little bit of extra brute they’re after need look no further than this six-wheeled monster.
A British rigid has created the ultimate off-road vehicle capable of carrying five passengers and machinery by building a open up version of the much-loved classic – and at £125,000 it’s a third of the price of the Mercedes 6×6 it’s taking the mantle off.
Dubbed the ‘Flying Huntsman’ by the team of engineers who created it, it was made in response to Jaguar Land Rover’s decision to stop building the Defender this year – almost seventy years after the very first model spinned off the production line.

Creators Kahn Design called the decision an ‘absolute tragedy’, so put a dramatic twist on the car by sticking the tail of a pickup version of the iconic off-roader onto the back of a top-of-the-range long wheelbase model.
The Defender Dual Cab Pickup went on display at an exhibition in Peterborough earlier this month and more are planned in the near future.

The limited edition model was based on the iconic G-Wagon and designed to have the off-road capabilities of a tank, accelerate like a hot hatch and provide the luxury feel of a limousine.
But Afzal Kahn, CEO of Kahn Design, is adamant his car can contest in the monster car market
He said: ‘If the Germans can do it then why can’t the British?
‘We are a fully independent British car company and it is an arousing time. It is a utter six-wheel drive car and will be ready in the next few weeks.
‘The Land Rover Defender is one of my top five favourite cars. There is something about it that makes you smile – it requests respect.
‘It is a shame that Land Rover is stopping production but there are slew around for us to work on.
‘These days it’s not what you wear, it’s what you drive.’
