Two suspects were taken into custody early Wednesday morning after they led police on a pursue following a car-jacking in southwest Houston.
The pursue began about Three:30 a.m. near Post Oak and Bellfort when a patrol officer attempted to pull over a driver for a traffic disturbance, said Lt. Larry Crowson of the Houston Police Department.
Crowson said the driver refused to stop and sped away. The officer followed the suspects. During the pursue, officer determined the vehicle had been stolen about two hours earlier in a car-jacking in a parking lot in the five thousand one hundred block of Griggs. Both suspects in the car-jacking had guns.
The pursue ended, Crowson said, when the suspects hit a curb along Bellfort near Texas 288. They leaped out of the disabled car and ran into a nearby pipe yard. The business was open and officers evacuated the workers and searched for the suspects. With the help of a police helicopter team and a search dog, they found the dudes. One was hiding in the water in a creek while the other was hiding in a pipe.
The K-9 bit one of the suspect on the gam as the dudes were taken into custody. The man had slight injuries and is expected to be fine.
No other injuries were reported.
The suspects, Crowson said, are expected to be charged with aggravated robbery as well felony evading.
No information was released about the car-jacking.
