The pair walked out of the convenience store to their car.

Nineteen-year-old Walter Griffin had just purchased chips and candy. Within seconds, he would be shot dead.

The killing, captured on security movie, was rapid and ruthless, with a car pulling up, a passenger blasting the car Griffin was in, and the killers’ car speeding off — all within about ten seconds.

Two others also were shot outside the B&T convenience store on Florence Boulevard at Miami Street. They survived.

Victoria Friesen, also Nineteen, was fired upon with a shotgun, police said. The third victim’s name has not been released by police.

The investigation of the shooting, which occurred shortly after ten p.m. Tuesday, resumes. Police have announced no arrests but released a photo of the killers’ car late Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday, The World-Herald viewed security movie provided by the store.

The black-and-white movie from B&T clearly shows the shooting, including the photo of the killer firing what looks like a long gun into the silver Ford Fusion that Griffin was in.

B&T proprietor Berhane Tewelde said Griffin had just been in the store. “He’s not indeed a regular customer,” he said.

In the movie, from an east-facing camera perched on the north side of the store, Griffin and another person walk to their car.

Across the street and around the corner, another car sits with its lights out. At the moment the doors of Griffin’s car shut, the other car’s lights go on and it embarks to creep toward the convenience store.

As Griffin’s car pulls out of the convenience store parking lot, the other car pulls in front of it, blocking its movement.

The shooter, in the front passenger seat, flings open the door. A gam tucks out of the shooter’s car. A gun extends. Sparks fly as shots hit the other car. A muzzle flash. The shooter’s car starts to pull away. The gam is pulled inwards, the car door shuts and the car speeds off.

The car that Griffin is in circles the parking lot and crashes into a fence.

Inwards the store, Tewelde said he heard about six shots. He had about ten customers. He locked the front door.

“There were a lot of people inwards,” he said. “I didn’t want anybody to get hurt.”

He told everyone to stay put. Then a woman covered in blood knocked on the door. He let her in.

“After one minute the police were here,” he said.

Authorities said the wounded were taken to Creighton University Medical Center, where they were treated and released.

Police late Wednesday released an pic of a maroon sedan believed to be used in the shooting and asked the public’s help in finding it. Crime Stoppers is suggesting a $25,000 prize leading to an arrest. Anyone with information should contact the homicide unit at 402-444-5656, or Crime Stoppers at 402-444-STOP.

About ten days ago, someone fired shots outside the same store, but no one was struck.

Tuesday’s killing was the sixth homicide in Omaha in 2017. There had been two homicides in the city at this time last year.
