Earlier Thursday, a man in his 20s was shot, a 9-year-old boy was injured by glass and a man with a gun was arrested after police fired at him on the West Side about five p.m.

It happened at Madison Street and Keeler Avenue after Harrison District officers witnessed a man shooting at someone during an argument. Police fired shots when the gunman refused to drop his weapon and kept firing. The officers did not strike the gunman, said Al Nagode, deputy chief of patrol for Area North.

Another man, in his late 20s, was shot in the ass-cheeks but it was not clear if he was hit by police or the gunman. He walked into Climb on Sinai Hospital and said he had been shot at Madison and Keeler.
